In Longueville we like to to celebrate each changing season. We offer a host of educational, entertaining & mouth-watering events on our unique property nestled in 400 acres of the Blackwater Valley.
Participants meet our Ornithologist at Longueville House early at 4am for a brief orientation & maps distributed of various sites on the estate. Participants set off on tour. Later the group returns home to clean up & enjoy a hearty countryhouse style breakfast. In Longueville the reward at the end of a walk is as important as the actual walk itself!
Afterwards a cosy chat, questions & answers session in the drawing room by the fire. Longueville is known for its more intimate chorus walks, in luxurious surroundings, allowing participants to benefit from more of the guide's time & attention.

Guided Dawn Chorus Walk, Delicious Countryhouse Breakfast, plus detailed discussion with guide afterwards. Payment is made at time of booking.
Warm outdoor clothing with hiking boots/wellies depending on the weather.
Waterproof hats and overcoats, umbrellas due to our inclement weather; even a pair of sunglasses may come in handy; binoculars if you readily have them - not essential.

Advance booking & payment is essential by credit card or cheque as numbers taken for this very special event is limited. Confirmation of booking will be guaranteed on receipt of these payment details. Cancellation is required within 72 hours of the event to avoid penalty in full. cancellations before this time will be refunded payment minus 20% handling fee. Book soon as spaces are limited!

3.30pm - 4.30pm Enjoy complimentary afternoon tea laid out in the Drawing Room.
7pm Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and meet Chef/Patron William O'Callaghan who will discuss the menu du jour.
7.30pm Dinner is served promptly.
Saturday 16th October
Don your boots and wellies and hike around the estate in search of edible mushroom varieties home grown here on our Estate. With the guidance of our very own mushroom experts and enthusiasts Maria Cullen, Howard Fox and Jim Fraser, you can discover the pleasure of this exciting sport here at Longueville House. A rustic style picnic is laid out for participants in the courtyard post hunt. Later that evening Chef/Proprietor William O’Callaghan will prepare and cook for you a banquet of autumn mushrooms from the day’s harvest. A fun day out for all & ideal for beginners. Please note that mushroom hunts take place in all sorts of weather so are rarely cancelled due to inclement weather.
Participants meet after a leisurely breakfast in the Drawing room. A brief introduction to Guides and orientation and maps distributed of mushroom sites on the Longueville Estate. Participants set off at their own pace, and break up into smaller groups. Non-plastic containers are recommended for collection of mushrooms. Bring wellies or hiking boots and layered clothing.
Groups return to the house to clean up, meet in the Courtyard to examine mushroom harvest and participate in a discussion with Q&A session while enjoying Picnic snacks washed down with mulled Longueville House Cider.
Later that evening, a delicious autumn four-course dinner menu, specially prepared and chosen by William O'Callaghan, incorporating seasonal mushrooms. Guests have the choice of dining individually or as part of a small group in The Chinese Room, a private dining area (social distancing guidelines observed). Please advise which option suits when making your reservation with us.
