Whether you decide to wed on-site or off-site, one of the first things that happens after the ceremony is the meet and greet while the drinks party begins.
During fine weather, we aim to serve drinks and pre-dinner nibbles outdoors while guests mingle and enjoy the stunning scenery. If the weather isn’t willing, we’ll simply set up a drinks table indoors where Guests will enjoy a roaring log fire, perched on a generous scattering of comfortable couches and armchairs.
While your guests are being well cared for until dinner is served, last minute finer table details are attended to – flower re-arrangements, guest souvenirs or last minute seating changes. In the meantime, Photographers are busily at work creating timeless images that will tell colourful stories.
Many of our couples opt for pre-dinner speeches and are informally conducted from the main staircase, the front door steps, or seated in the restaurant before or after dinner is served.Dinner typically begins between 5pm and 7pm, depending on ceremony time. Which brings us to the dining experience that is the centrepiece of Longueville House. There are no short cuts taken here. Your guests will sit down to a gourmet feast prepared by Chef and Patron William O’Callaghan, who naturally supports a field to fork ethos (he’s also a farmer and gardener!). William trained in French kitchens both in France and the UK and has brought that expertise home and tweaked it superbly. There are several wedding food and beverage packages to choose from, suiting varying budgets and palates. Our basic wedding packages include two pre-dinner drinks with nibbles, three-course dinner with choice of main course, half bottle of wine allocation and late night snacks… flavours to die for and portions are generous. All special diets and fussy eaters are catered to by prior arrangement.
The maximum number of guests catered to is 146 seated in four separate but interconnected dining locations all with their own individual atmosphere. Warning! - Longueville House is not a venue for couples who wish to accommodate all their guests in one large ballroom or banqueting hall. Three rooms are inter-connected: The Turner Room seats 76, The Presidents’ Room seats 36 and The Library seats 14. The Chinese Room seats 18 is set slightly apart but nearby.

For couples who book the property on an Exclusively Yours basis, our Cellar Kitchen is readily available below stairs to party on into the night. (This area is not available to non-exclusive wedding lettings for reasons explained further). Once speeches, toasts, and dinner are taken care of, the party revelry begins in earnest. Guests make their way to our Cellar Kitchen, a compact entertainment area lit by fairy and tea lights, with a clubby atmosphere, housing a bar, dancefloor, additional seating, smoking area and loos. Here your band or DJ have already set up and ready to get the party started. Any time from 10pm to midnight, wedding cake and late night nibbles are served on large platters as your Guests will almost certainly have the munchies by then.
